WORK IN PROGRESS

After 1 year of research we have sequenced the 85% of the Italian butterfly species (250 species). For many species we were also able to obtain samples from different areas of Italy in order to understand whether similar situations as the case of Zerynthia polyxena / Z. cassandra exist.

We also entirely barcoded the butterfly fauna of the Park of the Tuscan Archipelago and the Maremma Regional Park while the butterflies of the Sila National Park and the Province of Biella will be sequenced in the next few months.

We are still missing 40 species and some areas have few or no specimen, a gap that will be filled during the second year of the project.
